Dear SSC Athletes, Parents and Coaches,

Our Coaches and Committee have been working on our planning for the Long Course (LC – 50m Pool) season which runs essentially September-April. Provided below is our Tentative Event Schedule for our Senior Squads – SSC District (DIS), State Potential (SPO), State Performance (SPE) & State Podium (POD) Squads. SSC Squad Structure

When planning we take into account the goal is to develop the strokes and skills in specific training blocks, then provide the opportunity for the children to execute these in competition.

Prior to entry into any competition swimmers and parents should discuss and confirm entries with their coach

For the majority of our SSC DIS/SPO/SPE/POD athletes in addition to the development of the core stroke and skill development (SSC Tech Descriptors) the goal is also move between squads as well as having the opportunity to achieve Junior Excellence (JX) standards, Proficiency Awards Qualifying Times for Victorian Championships Metro, State Sprint State Age, State Age-Open MC & State Open, as well as National Age, National Age MC, National Age-Open-MC Open Water National Open QT’s which will be through events participated in our event schedule.

Through the events in our schedule all athletes are encouraged to participate in all strokes and distances to ensure the development of the whole athlete with respect to stroke and skill as well as mental/psychological.

Further information will be provided in the Events section of Stack Team App for all upcoming events including recommended events. (There may be additional events provided based on the main focus for these groups which will be included as required in Stack Team App Event notification)

Each athlete should confirm their events prior to entry with their coach

Sat Sep 16 – Junior District Trials
- Key Event for all SSC Athletes Aged 11&U
- All Swimmers swim 50 FLY, 50 BK, 50 BR, 50 FR
- Age as on 28/10/2023
- Top 10 in each event get FREE entry to Finals on 28/10/2023

Sat-Sun Sep 16-17 – District Championships
- Key event for all SSC Athletes Aged 12&O
- Minimum 3 Events per Session
- Include one distance 100/200 for each stroke FLY, BK, BR, FR (4 swims)
- Include two Choice Events (2 swims)

Sun Oct 15 – Firbank Aquastars LC Meet
- Minimum 3 individual events 100/200m + 12&U – 400 IM, 13&O – 400 FR

Sat Oct 21 – Metro East LC Distance Meet
- Minimum 1 individual event
- Recommended 800 or 1500 FR

Sun Oct 22 – D5 LC Meet
- Minimum 3 individual events 100/200m

Sat Oct 28 – Metro Junior District Finals
- Qualifiers – Top 10 in each event from 16/09/2023
- FREE Entry and awarded patches for achievement + District Rep Gear

Sun Oct 29 – Ringwood LC Meet
- Minimum 3 events in your age group session 100/200/400m
- Minimum 2 open events in other session

Sat Nov 11 – Bayside LC Meet (Optional Event)
- Minimum 3 individual events 100/200/400m

Sun Nov 12 – Nunawading LC Meet (Optional Event)
- Minimum 3 individual events 100/200/400m

Fri Nov 17 – SV LC Distance Time Trial
- Minimum 1 individual event

Sat or Sun Nov 18 or 19 – SSC PB Aggregate 3
- 100 BR, 100 FLY, 100 FR + 1 Choice Event (recommended 200m or greater)

Sat-Sun Nov 25-26 – Wangaratta-Wodonga LC Meet (Team Event)
- Recommended 9 swims (3 per Session)
- 50m Events can be included at this event

Sat Dec 2 – EDA LC Meet
- Minimum of 3 swims per session
- Limited Entry 800/1500 FR
- 12&U – 400 FR, 13&O 400 IM
- This event is for those not able to participate in the Wangaratta-Wodonga Team Meet

Sun Dec 3 – MSC Splash LC Meet
- Minimum of 3 individual swims
- This event is for those not able to participate in the Wangaratta-Wodonga Team Meet

Sat Dec 9 – DVE Aquatic LC Sprint Meet (Optional Event)
- Use only to meet Sprint Championships QT’s in 50m events

Sat Dec 9 – Victorian Open Water Championships (Geelong)
- 10km, 7.5im, 5km, 2.5km, 1.2km, 500m
- Championship Distances plus recreational events

Sun Dec 10 – Ringwood LC Sprint Meet (Optional Event)
- Use only to meet Sprint Championships QT’s in 50m events

Sun Dec 10 – SSC Tiny Olympic Prospects (TOP)
- 7&U – 100 IM & 200 FR
- 8yrs – 100 IM & 400 FR
- 9yrs – 200 IM & 800 FR
- 10yrs – 400 IM & 1500 FR
- 11&O – May complete Time Trial as desired
Special Stroke & Skill Session Juniors Mentored by Senior Swimmers

Sat-Tue Dec 16-20 – Victorian State Age (12-18yrs) Championships (Qualifiers)
- Athletes required to qualify including club relays
- Morning Heats, Evening Finals (Relays in Finals only)

Sat-Sun Jan 13-14 – Victorian LC Sprint Championships
- Heats on Saturday, Finals on Sunday + Relays

Tue-Sat Jan 24-27 – Australian Open Water Championships (Perth)
- Qualification required

Fri-Sun Feb 23-25 – Victorian Open LC Championships
- Enter events as qualified

Sat-Mon Mar 9-11 – Victorian Metro LC Championships
- Enter events as qualified

Sat or Sun Mar 23 or 34 – SSC PB Aggregate 4
- 100 FLY, 100 FR, 100 BK + 1 Choice Event (recommended 200m or greater)

Sat Mar 30 – SSC Tiny Olympic Prospects (TOP)
- 7&U – 100 IM & 200 FR
- 8yrs – 100 IM & 400 FR
- 9yrs – 200 IM & 800 FR
- 10yrs – 400 IM & 1500 FR
- 11&O – May complete Time Trial as desired
Special Stroke & Skill Session Juniors Mentored by Senior Swimmers

Sat-Sun Apr 6-14 – Australian Age National Championships (Qualifiers)
- Multiclass Sat-Mon, Able Mon-Sun

Swimmers should now plan what meets they will be able to participate in and what events they will be entering in each meet so they can then ensure their focus in training starts early so they are best prepared to perform on the event day.
