Dear SSC Athletes, Parents and Coaches,

Our Coaches have been working on our planning for the Long Course (LC – 50m Pool) season which runs essentially September-April. Provided below is our Tentative Event Schedule for our Senior Squads – SSC District (DIS), State Potential (SPO), State Performance (SPE) & State Podium (POD) Squads. SSC Squad Structure

When planning we take into account the goal is to develop the strokes and skills in specific training blocks, then provide the opportunity for the children to execute these in competition.

Prior to entry into any competition swimmers and parents should discuss and confirm entries with their coach

For the majority of our SSC DIS/SPO/SPE/POD athletes in addition to the development of the core stroke and skill development (SSC Tech Descriptors) the goal is also move between squads as well as having the opportunity to achieve Junior Excellence (JX) standards, Proficiency Awards Qualifying Times for Victorian Championships Metro, State Age, State Open, as well as National Age,National Open, Commonwealth Games Trials, Commonwealth Games which will be through events participated in our event schedule.

Through the events in our schedule all athletes are encouraged to participate in all strokes and distances to ensure the development of the whole athlete with respect to stroke and skill as well as mental/psychological.

Further information will be provided in the Events section of Stack Team App for all upcoming events including recommended events. (There may be additional events provided based on the main focus for these groups which will be included as required in Stack Team App Event notification)

Each athlete should confirm their events prior to entry with their coach

Sat Sep 20 – District Champs & Junior Trials
This is a key measurement event for the club and all athletes are encouraged to participate
- 11&U – 50 FLY, 50 BK, 50 BR, 50 FR
Swimmers finishing in the Top 10 in each event/age group (8-11yrs) qualify for Metro Finals (Sat Oct 25)
Entries to the Oct 25 Finals are paid for and entered by the District
- 12&O – 200 IM + one distance 50/100/200 for each stroke (total 5)

Sun Sep 21 – SSC Tiny Olympic Prospects (TOP)
- 7&U – 100 IM & 200 FR
- 8yrs – 100 IM & 400 FR
- 9yrs – 200 IM & 800 FR
- 10yrs – 400 IM & 1500 FR
- 11&O – May complete Time Trial as desired after running the event for 10&U
Special Stroke & Skill Session Juniors Mentored by Senior Swimmers (time permitting)

Wed-Fri Oct 1-3 – Australian SC National Championships
- Qualifiers

Sat Oct 11 – SSC Special Session
- Held during training @ Paul Sadler Swimland Braybrook (5:00-7:30am)
- Presentation, Team Warm Up, Mentoring, FUN Relays
- Social activity to follow

Sat Oct 18 – Nunawading LC Meet
- Minimum 3 events 100m or greater

Sun Oct 19 – Firbank Aquastars LC Meet
- Minimum 3 events plus
- 12&U – 400 IM
- 13&O – 400 FR

Sat Oct 25 – Metro Junior District Finals
Qualifiers from Junior District Trials
Swimmers finishing in the Top 10 in each event/age group (8-11yrs) from Trials on Sat Sep 20 qualify for Metro Finals
Entries to the Oct 25 Finals are paid for and entered by the District

Sun Oct 26 – Ringwood LC Meet
- 12&U – Session 1 – Minimum 3 swims 100m or greater + Session 2 – Minimum 2 swims 200m or greater
- 13&O – Session 1 – Minimum 2 swims 200m or greater + Session 2 – Minimum 3 swims 100m or greater

Sat Nov 8 or Sun Nov 9 – SSC PB Aggregate 3 (TBC)
- 100 BR, 100 FLY, 100 FR + 1 Choice Event (recommended 200m or greater)

Sat Nov 15 – Essendon District Aquatic LC Meet
Alternate event for those not able to attend the TEAM MEET @ Wangaratta Nov 22-23
50’s for those qualifying for State LC Sprint Champs
- 8-10yrs – 200 IM + one distance 50/100 for each stroke (total 5)
- 11-12yrs – Session 1 – same as 8-10yrs + Session 2 – 200 FR (total 6)
- 13&O – Session 1 – 200 and/or 400 FR + 1 × 200 Choice + Session 2 as 8-10yrs (total 7)

Sun Nov 16 – MSC Splash 11 LC Meet
Alternate event for those not able to attend the TEAM MEET @ Wangaratta Nov 22-23

Entry Deadline – Victorian LC Sprint Championships (17/11/25)

Sat-Sun Nov 22-23 – Wangaratta LC Meet (TEAM EVENT) – 10 swims total
- Choose minimum 1 of 400 IM, 400 FR, 800 FR, 1500 FR
- Sat Session 1 – Minimum 3 of 400 FR, 50 BK, 200 CHOICE, 100 FR, 200 IM, 100 FLY, 1500 FR
- Sun Session 2 – Minimum 3 of 400 IM, 50 FR, 200 CHOICE, 100 BR, 50 FLY, 800 FR
- Sun Session 3 – Minimum 3 of 200 BR or FLY, 100 BK, 50 BR, 200 FR

If unable to attend Wangaratta can substitute with Nov 15 + 16 Events above

Those swimmers finishing in the top 10 in each event/age group on Saturday qualify for Finals on Sun Mar 29

Swimmers should now plan what meets they will be able to participate in and what events they will be entering in each meet so they can then ensure their focus in training starts early so they are best prepared to perform on the event day. Remember to always discuss with your coach prior to entry
